Laser Measure
Why are my readings inconsistent outdoors?
Use delayed capture and a matte target card. Shoot from the shade, and mount the device on a tripod in windy conditions.
Why can’t it measure through chain-link fences or brush?
The laser beam passes through gaps. Aim at a solid surface behind or tape a target card to the spot.
Why do glass or mirrors give incorrect readings?
Avoid shooting directly at reflective surfaces. Place a matte tape patch on the target and measure to that point instead.
Why are readings too short or long on glossy tiles?
Glossy tiles cause specular reflections. Apply matte tape and re-measure at a slightly off-normal angle.
Why is the laser beam invisible in daylight?
This is normal. In bright light, rely on the crosshair or target card rather than the visible laser dot.
Why is the side laser alignment hard to see at noon?
Shade the window with your hand or hat, shorten the measuring distance, and aim at darker or matte surfaces.
Why do results change when I flip the device?
You likely didn’t switch the measuring reference. Set the front, back, or tripod reference correctly in the settings menu.
Why does the camera crosshair seem off-center?
That’s parallax. Hold the device square to the surface, avoid steep angles, and re-center the crosshair before measuring.
Why does accuracy drift after moving from a hot truck to air conditioning?
Let the device acclimate for 5–10 minutes, wipe any condensation, and redo the 10-ft accuracy check.
Why won’t Bluetooth pair?
Toggle Bluetooth off and on, forget and re-add the device, then reboot. Check app permissions and ensure firmware is up to date.
Why does the battery drain quickly?
Lower screen brightness, disable Bluetooth when idle, and use matching Ni-MH or lithium AA/AAA batteries in cold weather.
Why are stake-out beeps not matching my tape marks?
Check the unit of measurement (fraction vs. decimal), verify the spacing you entered, and use a stabilized tripod for best accuracy.
What should I do after dropping the device?
Inspect the lens and hook, then perform the 10-ft and 25-ft accuracy checks. If results remain out of tolerance, click Contact Us to reach our customer service team for assistance.

Thermal Imagers
Why does everything look the same color?
Your span is too wide—narrow it or switch palettes to increase contrast.
Why do I see false hot or cold spots?
They’re likely reflections. Change your viewing angle—if the spot moves with you, it’s not real.
Why do shiny metals read so cold?
Low emissivity. Apply matte black tape and set emissivity to around 0.95.
Why does the image look grainy?
The temperature difference is small or the scene is dim. Tighten span and move more slowly when scanning.
Why does the camera click repeatedly?
That’s the FFC (flat-field correction) normalizing the image—especially common during warm-up.
Why do I get over- or under-range warnings?
Switch to high-temperature mode for very hot objects, or let the camera acclimate before use in cold rooms.
Why does the lens fog after moving from heat to AC?
Allow the camera to stabilize naturally. Don’t wipe immediately—use a dry microfiber after fog clears.
Why won’t USB or Wi-Fi connect?
Reboot the camera and PC/app, use the supplied cable, and ensure both firmware and software are updated.
Why aren’t my alarms triggering?
Set alarms based on ΔT (difference from ambient), not absolute temperature. Also check that your span isn’t clipping the target range.
Why do outdoor scans appear cooler on windy days?
Wind removes surface heat—shield the area or notes wind effects in your report.
Why are roof scan results inconsistent at different times of day?
Solar loading lingers on surfaces. Scan near sunset or early morning for consistent results.
Why does battery life drop quickly in cold weather?
Keep a spare pack warm. Lithium-ion performance returns to normal at room temperature.
Do I need professional calibration?
Do simple field checks using ice water (~32°F) and a room-temp card. If results drift or the camera is dropped, click Contact Us to reach our customer service team for help.

What does the standard manufacturer’s warranty cover?
Products purchased directly from mileseeytools.com are covered by a standard manufacturer’s warranty that provides 10 years of coverage for the XTAPE1 laser distance meter and 5 years for all other products. The warranty covers manufacturing and operational defects and is valid worldwide.
How do I use the manufacturer’s warranty?
Warranty starts from the purchase date with proof of purchase, or from the production date in the serial number if proof is unavailable. All MILESEEY Tools devices include a 5-year warranty, except the XTAPE1 laser distance meter, which comes with a 10-year warranty. During the coverage period, MILESEEY Tools may repair the product, replace it with a new or refurbished model, or provide a refund.
What is Extended Warranty?
Our Extended Warranty via Extend covers accidental damage, defects, and failures. Benefits include easy replacements for drops, spills, or electrical failures. Coverage can be added after purchase as long as the product is undamaged. For orders from Amazon, eBay, or AliExpress, warranty follows each platform’s policy. Each package includes an Extend card with a QR code or registration link to add two extra years of coverage.
Can I claim warranty on a discontinued product?
Yes. If your product has been discontinued, we’ll replace it with the closest equivalent model, though size or color may vary.
How long does the claim process take?
Most claims are reviewed within two business days. Once approved, replacements usually ship within 2–3 business days. We may request additional details or a product return before approval.
Do I need to pay return shipping?
MILESEEY Tools covers return shipping for approved warranty claims. Exceptions include non-defective returns, claims made outside the country of purchase, items confirmed functional by quality control, international returns, or unauthorized returns outside the approved warranty process.

Laser Measure
How should I clean the optics?
Blow off any grit first, then wipe the laser lens gently with dry tissue or dust-free cloth only. Do not use solvents or paper towels.
Can I use the device in wet conditions?
Some MILESEEY Tools Laser Measures are splash-resistant but not waterproof. Wipe away rain or spray immediately, as water droplets can scatter the laser beam.
How can I keep dust from affecting accuracy? How can I keep dust from affecting accuracy?
Store the device between measurements. A fine dust film on the lens is the number one cause of inconsistent readings.
How should I care about the battery?
Remove alkaline cells if storing the device for long periods. For Li-ion models, store at 40–60% charge at room temperature and avoid leaving the device in a hot vehicle.
How often should I check for firmware updates?
Check about once a month. Firmware updates may improve measuring modes, export stability, and overall performance.
What’s the best way to transport the device?
Always use the protective case. Avoid tool bins or drawers where glass shards or screws could scratch the lens.
Should I check accuracy regularly?
Yes. Perform a quick 10-ft and 25-ft verification against a tape measure every week or before critical work.
How do I clean off chemicals or cement dust?
Cement slurry or solvents can haze the lens. Wipe immediately with a water-dampened microfiber cloth, then dry thoroughly.
What should I do if the lens is chipped or the tape blade is bent?
Stop using the device and click Contact Us to reach our customer service team for an RMA or repair assistance.
What if I need to store the device for a long time?
Remove the batteries and store the device with a small silica gel pack in the case. Long-term storage with batteries may cause leakage and corrosion, which can damage the circuits.
How can I keep the screen looking clear over time?
Use dry tissue or dust-free cloth to gently wipe the display. Avoid pressing too hard or using alcohol wipes. This helps preserve the anti-reflective coating and keeps readings easy to see under bright light.
How should I protect the laser window from scratches?
Keep the protective cover on whenever the device is not in use. Even tiny scratches on the laser window can scatter the beam and slightly reduce measuring accuracy.
Can I use the device on construction sites with fine dust?
Yes, but try to keep it inside its pouch when not measuring. Fine concrete or drywall dust can settle on the optics and slowly dull the lens coating.
